Sources close to the waiver wire tell me this league has a supply problem.
Ollie Gordon. Kenyon Sadiq. Braelon Allen. Alvin Kamara. Four names combining for over 13 million adds across Sleeper in the last 48 hours, and all four are locked up somewhere in this fourteen-team pond, unavailable to anyone reading this. Sources: it's done, and it was done a while ago. Roman Wilson, 380,187 adds nationally, also gone. This league doesn't have a waiver wire so much as a museum with the good exhibits roped off.
What's actually sitting there, per people familiar with the free agent pool: Tyler Higbee, 404,442 adds and available. The Raiders defense, 384,300 adds, sitting untouched. Isaiah Davis in New York, 235,332 adds, nobody's claimed him. The Vikings and Ravens defenses both cracked a quarter-million adds nationally — Minnesota at 273,305, Baltimore at 252,114 — and both are free in this specific room. Chase McLaughlin — a kicker generating 157,720 adds somewhere in America — remains, extraordinarily, a free agent here too. Somebody in this league needs to want a kicker. Nobody currently does.
The hoarders. I flagged this exact behavior after Week 2 and people close to the situation are furious it's still happening. Brian Jones: $100 of FAAB, zero spent, three weeks in. Jamie Sinn: same number, same math, and Jamie's 2-1 with a two-game win streak riding almost entirely on Ja'Marr Chase doing Ja'Marr Chase things. A source in both leagues — and I mean that literally, this manager plays Auction and Dynasty — tells me hoarding budget while your division races off is "a fine strategy until it isn't." Great quote. Anonymous, but great.
Then there's Charlie Koepsell. 3-0. All-play mark of 33-6, best in the league by a mile. FAAB remaining: 99 dollars. He has spent exactly one dollar of FAAB all season and is one of two unbeaten teams in this league, sitting atop the standings on a tiebreaker over the other 3-0 team, Elliott Simmonds, rather than running away from anybody. Either Koepsell knew something about his roster in August that the rest of the league still hasn't figured out, or he's one bad bye week from needing the vault he's refused to open. Sources close to Koepsell did not respond, which I'm choosing to interpret as confirmation of something.
On the other end: Hunter Koepsell has burned 82 of his 100 dollars and owns a -0.333 luck delta to go with it, one of three managers stuck at 0-3 alongside Ryan Weaver and Joe Hamm. I reported the FAAB torching back in Week 1 as a mystery. It is no longer a mystery. It is a pattern, and the pattern is losing — though at least Hunter has company at the bottom.
The churn watch. Justin Waitt added Zach Ertz in Week 2 while dropping Malik Davis, then separately churned DeeJay Dallas in and back out this week for Case Keenum — a quarterback carousel on a roster that just got 41.4 from Jahmyr Gibbs and 29.66 from Sam Darnold. People familiar with Waitt's thinking say he simply likes turning the roster over. Chris Boyle shipped out Charlie Kolar for AJ Dillon, the same AJ Dillon that Ben Cunnion cut loose a week earlier — one man's trash directly becoming Boyle's Week 3 problem to solve at 1-2.
And then there's Sean Gibbins, who added Colby Parkinson off waivers this week and, per box scores obtained by this desk, immediately ran him out as a starter for zero points. Zero. Same week. A source granted anonymity to speak freely called it "an aggressive way to test a new asset." I'd call it something else, but I'm an insider, not a comedian.
More on this as it develops, and something tells me with Boyle at 1-2 and 64 dollars still in his pocket, it will.
